What is catherine rohr?

Catherine Rohr is a social entrepreneur and the founder of Defy Ventures, a nonprofit organization that provides entrepreneurship training, career development, and employment opportunities to formerly incarcerated individuals in the United States. Rohr herself came from a privileged background and initially pursued a career in finance. However, after volunteering in a prison and witnessing the lack of opportunities and resources available to inmates upon release, she felt a strong conviction to help those who had been incarcerated.

In 2009, Rohr launched Defy Ventures and has since helped thousands of formerly incarcerated individuals start their own businesses or secure employment. The program also offers mentorship, leadership training, and rehabilitation support to help participants transition successfully back into society.

Rohr's work has earned her numerous accolades, including recognition as a CNN Hero, an Ashoka Fellow, and a Draper Richards Kaplan Entrepreneur. She has also been featured in media outlets such as Forbes, The Wall Street Journal, and The Washington Post for her innovative approach to helping ex-offenders rebuild their lives.
